Lagrimas de oro

Lagrimas de oro (Golden Tears) reflects on the interconnection between colonialism and religion. Unlike other European countries such as England or the Netherlands, Spain insisted on converting the natives of the lands it conquered to its state religion: catholicism. Surprisingly, it succeeded, killing in the process up to eight million indigenous people and marking the first large-scale act of genocide of the modern era.
