WITNESS

Witness contemplates the way human communities and systems interact with their environment. While its erratic landscape evocates the human impact on the environment (global warning, mass extinction, biodiversity loss, ecological collapse) and vice et versa (earthquakes, cyclones), the use of plaster—a delicate material—stresses the inherent fragility of our relationship with nature. If we step back, the surface reveals an eye, a silent observer, a witness of our actions (or lack thereof).
